Answers To Our Most Common Questions

What do I need to have before we start?

To ensure the best design, we need as many materials as we can get before we come up with our designs. We usually wont start a project untill the following materials are provided by the client

  • Logo in digital format - Preferably Vector or .JPEG format
  • Website Content - All the text for your pages
  • Photos
  • Navigation Structure (What menu items you want)

How long does web design take?

Small static websites are usually predictable for their time-frame. Most are done in 2-3 weeks from conception to finished product.

Can you redevelop our existing site?

Redevelopment usually easier than development from scratch because the client has a better idea of what they want. Not to mention, most clients want to keep most of their existing content the same so that's one less thing to prepare for us. Since most of our charge is for the artistic design itself, we do not offer discounts on website redevelopment.

What is a Static vs. Dynamic Site?

Sometimes referred to as an HTML (static) vs. Data-driven (dynamic) site, these are two common ways to categorize most websites. Static sites are ones which don't use databases to get their information from. While that might seem like a small difference, there are actually major differences between the two. For starters, static websites are much faster (and therefore cheaper) to make. However they usually require a website guru to maintain them. Dynamic sites are called dynamic because as the content in the database changes, so to does the content that goes on the website. These sites have many more capabilities than static ones and take longer to develop (and therefore are usually more expensive by comparison). To know if you need a static or dynamic site, just read the following

You probably need a static site if...

  • Your site will consist of several pages (usually 3-15) with all pages having textual based information
  • Your site serves more as an online-portfolio of you consider it to be a nice extension of your business card
  • You just need a website to point clients to so they can see what you do

You need a dynamic site if...

  • You will be having a login system (for admin or clients)
  • You have a shopping cart or other e-commerce solutions
  • Your customers will be performing complicated searches for things on your site
  • Your users will have profiles for their selves
  • Your users will post comments or participate in a forum

What are the steps taken to design a site?

See our page Getting Started With Your Website

Will I have to maintain my site?

If you want to sure. If you dont want to we can do it. We have an hourly rate for maintaining sites and maintenance includes the following. If its not in this list, we consider it to be new development

  • Removing pages on static sites
  • Adding new items to your portfolio (If you should have one and if it is static)
  • Changing existing content or photos

How do I get listed on search engines?

See our page Search Engine Optimization and Marketing

Who will host the website?

Its up to you as to who is going to host your website. But if you have no preference, we will. We have a great hosting company that has always done a great job with all of our clients - www.hostmysite.com

Can I have custom emails?

This depends on the hosting company that you use for your site. See the above question for more info. The hosting company that we use allows its customer to have as many email addresses as they want (VPS Accounts). These addresses can be yourname@yourwebsite.com
